Terms and Conditions

These terms govern your use of TheTutorLink (thetutor.link and app.thetutor.link). By creating an account, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
1. The Platform
TheTutorLink is an online marketplace connecting students with independent tutors. We facilitate the connection but are not party to the tutoring relationship between tutor and student. Tutors are self-employed and responsible for the services they provide.
2. Accounts
You must be 18 or over to create an account. Parents may create accounts on behalf of their children. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, provide false information, or engage in fraudulent or harmful behaviour.
3. Tutors
Tutors are independent contractors. By registering as a tutor you confirm that:
- All information in your profile is accurate and not misleading
- You hold the qualifications you claim to hold
- You will deliver lessons with reasonable skill and care
- You will comply with all applicable UK laws, including safeguarding requirements when working with under-18s
- You have an Enhanced DBS certificate (or will obtain one) if tutoring children in person
Tutors keep 95% of each lesson fee. TheTutorLink charges a 5% platform fee, deducted at the time of payment.
4. Payments
Payments are processed via PayPal after each lesson is completed. Students pay the tutor’s advertised rate. TheTutorLink deducts a 5% platform fee and transfers the remainder to the tutor’s PayPal account.
Refunds and disputes are handled in accordance with our Contact page. PayPal’s buyer and seller protection policies also apply.
5. Conduct
All users must:
- Treat other platform users with respect
- Not use the platform to harass, threaten, or deceive others
- Not attempt to circumvent platform payments by moving transactions off-platform
- Not share false, misleading, or defamatory reviews
Violation of these conduct rules may result in immediate account suspension.
6. Safeguarding
The safety of children using our platform is our priority. Tutors are required to maintain appropriate professional boundaries, and we encourage all users to report safeguarding concerns immediately to hello@thetutor.link. In an emergency, always contact the police or relevant authorities first.
7. Intellectual Property
TheTutorLink content (including logos, copy, and design) is our intellectual property. Tutor profile content remains the property of the tutor. By uploading content to the platform, you grant us a licence to display it as part of the service.
8. Limitation of Liability
TheTutorLink provides a platform for connecting tutors and students. We are not responsible for the quality of tutoring services, tutor qualifications beyond what is self-reported, or disputes arising from the tutoring relationship. Our liability is limited to the platform fees paid in the six months prior to any claim.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
10. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify registered users of material changes by email.
