For students & parents
How do free trials work?
Most tutors offer a free 30-minute trial. No card required to book it. After the trial, you decide whether to book paid lessons.
How do I pay?
Pay through TheTutorLink at the time of booking using card or PayPal. Funds are released to the tutor after each lesson.
What does the 5% fee cover?
It’s the platform fee — taken from the tutor’s payout, not added to your bill. It covers vetting, payments, support, and keeping the lights on.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Cancel up to 12 hours before a lesson for a full refund. No subscriptions, no lock-ins.
Are tutors qualified?
Every profile is vetted. Many are recent graduates from top UK universities; others are qualified teachers. The profile shows their education and reviews.
Do lessons happen online?
Most do, via the tutor’s preferred video tool. Some offer in-person lessons in their listed city.
Can I switch tutors?
Yes. Free trials with multiple tutors are encouraged. There’s no commitment between trials.
For tutors
How does the 5% fee work?
It’s deducted from your payout per lesson. £30 lesson → £28.50 to you. No subscription, no listing fee.
When do I get paid?
Within 48 hours of each completed lesson. Bank transfer or PayPal.
Do I have to be a qualified teacher?
No. We focus on subject competence and the ability to explain it. Many top-rated tutors are recent graduates.
Can I tutor on other platforms too?
Yes. We don’t require exclusivity.
How long does vetting take?
Usually 24–48 hours. We review your profile, qualifications and one trial session before going live.
